  Good evening,

well, before I even made it to bed last evening, I heard a "snap!" I knew it was a mouse trap. Sure enough, my "Museum Special" trap had a mouse. So I disposed of it.
No additional mice in traps this morning...so now of course, I hope that eliminates the mouse population...

This morning, I drove up to Laredo & did my obligatory shopping. Went first to Target & then to H.E.B. I stopped at Whataburger on my way out of town.

I baked Gramma a cake for Mother's Day. It was a Yellow cake, with the addition of a block of cream cheese, some coconut & a pound of powdered sugar.

I grilled some T-bone streaks for dinner.

Had another rain shower this evening. We are having what I would call "monsoon" rains. They are slow moving showers, not with any particular direction in which they travel. There is some thunder, but not at all what I would call a Thunderstorm.

I dyed my hair this evening. I have been going gray since I was 19. A woman that I used to work with in K.C. asked me why I dyed my hair. I told her so I could get the 19 year old chicks. She told me that I could still get the 19 year old chicks, but I'd just have to pay more...

That's all I have for now

Be good everybody

  Hello,

Well, I am still not mouse free...as I went to the kitchen last night a little before 11:00, I saw a mouse run across the floor & behind the refrigerator...I broke out 4 more traps today, including an older "Museum Special" model (I'm going to get midieval on these mice...).

I subbed in 8th Grade Keyboarding class today...nothing too exciting to really talk about from school. About 15 minutes after I got home this afternoon, the skies opened up & we got a decent amount of rain (I haven't checked the raingauge).

Tomorrow, I will head up to Laredo.I will do some shopping, probably go to either Target or Wal-Mart & the H.E.B. for groceries & to pick up a couple of prescriptions for Gramma that will run out before I get back from my trip. While I'm there, I will check on what I need to do for her to get her signed up for this new Medicare Prescription plan...
I may also get my oil changed, if not tomorrow, I will do it Wednesday either in Laredo or San Antonio, on my way North...

That's all my news for now.

Be good everybody

  Hello there,

No mice in my traps this morning...I'm really hoping there was just the one mouse...but I'll keep them set until next Wednesday, when I leave to go North.

Substituted in 8th grade History today...dealt with the First World War & afterwards (Treaty of Versailles etc.).
It just kills me, I can hear outside the classroom:
"Sub in Mr. Perez' class"
"Who is it?"
"The Gringo..."
So there you have it. It no longer bothers me...The kids know where I fit in around there & they are cool with me. Apparently Mr. Perez lets them listen to music in class...Tejano music...!Ay Carumba! (I'm not a fan)
One girl asked me if I could understand the songs...well, I could pick out "corazon y brazos" in one song ("corazon" is in just about every song).
One kids found a Desert Tortoise outside & decided to bring it into class. I told him he couldn't have it in class (it was the last period of the day). He said he was going to take it home with him. I asked what are you going to do with it while in class? He said put it inside the desk...right then, the tortoise (not too big, about the size of your hand) decided to relieve itself...the young man decided to put it back outside...

I had to run back into town this evening, I had to put the house insurance check into the mail...

that's my life for today...

Be good everybody

  Hello,

Well, I did nab one mouse in my traps last night. I don't know if it was the only one, but I'll leave them set for the next week or so.

I found out today that I am going to be a Great-uncle again...by neice Robyn is due in December. She just had a baby (Izabella) back in September.

I went to town to do a few errands today. I mailed a box of books to my brother, paid the water bill, got gas for the lawn mower & bought an air filter for my car.

I got called & I will be subbing tomorrow & Friday, so that is good (might pay for the gas on my trip next week).

I am a cheap skate, so I usually try to make all of my Long distance phone calls from my cell phone. The problem is, I get poor reception here, so I usually have to wander out back & walk to the south end of the fenceline, where I can get a decent signal. When I was out there, there was a calf running around & making lots of noise. There were two cows on the other side of the fence, I guessing the little guy got though the fence somehow & could not figure how to get back...

There was a Caracara outback...it was enjoying my chicken bones from tonight's dinner. (I always throw bones over the fence for the Caracaras to find).

Well, I'm going to bed early tonight so I can be ready for the kids tomorrow...

Be good everybody

  Howdy Y'all,

Well, I definately have mice...I have put out some traps & will hopefully trap some of the little buggers.

The pond out back is now covered with green stuff...??? I have no idea what it is...I guess some sort of algae...

When I head up to Iowa in about a week, I am going to take my Mom's sewing machine & give it to my oldest neice. I won't use it...as long as someone does. Anyway, I had told Gramma that I was planning on taking it, so she jumps into action, cleaning sewing stuff out of drawers & stuff. I saw her pull out a clear plastic container that had sewing stuff in it. About 10 minutes later, she is telling me that there were 2 boxes like that & now she can find only one. I told her that I only saw one. Then she starts accusing me of taking the other one...

Big, orange, full moon rising outside now. I was just out...I heard 5 different "night" birds: Great-horned owl, Eastern Screech-Owl, Elf Owl, Paraque & Poor-will.

You know, it's kind hard to update your blog when there's just not much going on in your life...

Be good everybody

  Good evening,

I will post this before 11:30 tonight...

Well, it was just another day here.

Gramma thinks we have a mouse in the house, so I set out a couple of traps.
I sawed down another tree limb (one I took down yesterday must have been supporting it, this new problem started to hang in front of my satellite dish...we can't have that now)

I ran to town and bought a few groceries.

I made tater-tot casserole for dinner. It had been a long time since I'd had that...probably at least 5 years...

The nicest thing about today was that my friend Janelle from Kansas called me. I was not having a bad day, but talking to her can make any day better...we gave each other alot of crap. A couple of weeks ago, I told her that I was going to be heading up her way next week...well she was freaking out, as she thought it was this week & had stuff going on when I expected to be in town. After telling her to buy a calendar, we got things all straightened (that word looks funny to me) out.

Well, not much else going on here...

Be good everybody

  Good evening,

Beautiful day today. A little breezy.

Cut off some tree limbs today (WOW)

Grilled burgers for dinner (I like mine with cheese & jalapenos)

I listed off some things that make me happy for a friend...

I'll just post it on here:

Waking up a little chilly in the morning, reaching over, and finding someone (cats included) to snuggle up with.

Playing a great song on the car stereo and singing to it...no matter where you are or who's around.

Finding you have something in common with someone you want to have things in common with.

Knowing that whatever it is going on in your life, no matter what time of day it is, telling yourself "this has got the possibility of being the best day of my life".

Laughing out loud at TV or a movie.

Doing something unexpected for someone.

Remembering something about someone that you had forgotten.

Being in someone's arms, not saying a word, knowing that you don't need to.

Finding someone who understands you (IF this ever happens, I'll be the happiest person in the world)

I went outside this evening & there is an Elf Owl calling, he's out back tonight. Elf Owls are North America's smallest owls.

Well, I stayed up & watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force
and now my eyes are tired, my brain fried, but yet, I waited until now to update my Blog...

Be something someone
