  Good morning...

Today is day 51 of me exercising. Today, I began to run my routine a little bit differently. Previously, I was stretching everyday, and then either jogging for 20 minutes, or lifting weights. Beginning today, I will do all 3 of them each day. In addition to this, (my motivation) is that I will give myself "bonus points" for each additional 10 minutes that I jog each day, and also for each free weight routine that I do...What I'm going to do is "give" myself a $ for each bonus point that I earn, and then take a trip or something fun with the money...I'm going to try to put at least one dollar away each day.

Motivation is really what I have been lacking since I've been down here. My friend Janelle is the person who put the idea in my head to start exercising (when I was in KC, I belonged to the YMCA for about 15 months--until May of 2003 & I started making frequent trips down here---I was good for a 30-60 minute workout at the YMCA 3-4 times a week). Janelle told me to start working out for her. Now, believe it or not, (if you know me) I did not take her words seriously (or try to read to much into them). A couple of weeks later, I decided to start exercising, not because I wanted to "do it for her", but because there was someone out there who would say something like that to me.

I am doing laundry now. I'm washing my bed stuff, even though I have not slept under the sheet for over 2 months. I am rough on my pillowcases. I drool when I sleep---I started drooling while sleeping when I was taking a medication about 5 years ago (just one of the undesirable side-effects of the medication). Gramma is frying an egg. There are some things that she will "fix"---eggs, both fried & hard boiled; Jell-o; beans, sometimes she'll soak some beans. Other than that, I do all of the food preparation around here & let her complain about it. I made some "Swiss Steak" last night. Her comment was "it could have been cooked longer". I put some carrots in it & I didn't slice them real thin...They weren't soggy, they weren't crisp, but yes, it could have been cooked 20 minutes longer. The problem is, Gramma expects to have dinner on the table at 4:30 (!?). I walked into the kitchen at 4:28 & she already had toast toasting. Now I try not to be mean, but I asked her how could it have cooked any longer, if she already had toast down.

OK- I'm feeling quite emotional this morning, I get this way sometimes...

It's been under 100 degrees the last 2 days (99 yesterday & 98 the day before whoo-hoo). The biggest problem is that along with the heat, is the "sea breeze" off the Gulf of Mexico, which drives up the humidity, so in the afternoon we end up with a "heat index" of 105-111. There have been some showers around for the past couple of days, but none here. The clouds from them have been keeping the high temperatures down. It only gets down to like 78-80 at night.

Anyway, I am feeling about as "content" as I ever have down here (the new internet connection helps...), that's good, as sometimes I was feeling like I was about to climb the walls, or explode or something...

Well, that's all I'm going to write for now...

Be good everybody
